  • @GreatScott! - hey Scott! I don’t think you really ever have time to read these comments, but as a BIG FAN, i wanted to offer some “advice” prompted by this video which I’ve learned while working w/ large-scale YT channels (like yours) on their back-end production & “marketing/ENGAGEMENT” tricks..... In this video, you mentioned one of YOUR top 3 picks as being the video on all the parts & components one should always have on hand when tinkering & embarking on projects. I remembered this video and wanted to go to it to SAVE IT to my personal playlist & to make my own checklist... I clicked on the “3-Dots” menu to look for the information ℹ️ tab where banners for videos/playlists/etc are shown, but found nothing. I then checks the description and again, did not find any such links (although I did find a handy timeline list and the usual great resources). My advice: The “timeline” list you created would’ve been THE IDEAL SPOT for a link to each respective video for sure! If not - then either creating a PLAYLIST (_and adding its link to the description_) has of all 6 videos, OR 2 playlists (such as: “2020 TOP 3 GreatScott! VIEWER’s CHOICE VIDEOS” & “2020 TOP 3 VIDEOS Chosen By GreatScott!!”) would be another way... Here’s WHY..... 1. This channel is your LIVELIHOOD - Therefore generating THE MAXIMUM amount of CLICKS, LIKES, SHARES, COMMENTS, WATCH TIME & overall “ENGAGEMENT” (YT algorithmic GOLD if you didn’t already know) is by default your constant primary goal, so you should ALWAYS be following a checklist that ensures you’ve done everything you could to achieve this goal!! (_Sort of common sense, I know! But seeing as you’re a 1-man operation, you’d be shocked to know how many channels I’ve “assisted” in the past that flat out LOST SIGHT of the basics once they hit a level of success that demanded their frequent publishing!_) 2. CSworld viewers ARE NOT ALWAYS going to be your diehard fans who have seen every video. They also ARE NOT going to take the path of even the SLIGHTEST “resistance” when deciding they’d like to find one of your other videos (like in my case)... This means, if it’s NOT “IN THEIR FACE” they’re statistically VERY LIKELY to MOVE ON.. Call it “laziness” or “entitlement” or whatever you wish, but as long as you’re not calling it “NONSENSE” you’ll always be fine.... Because it’s far from nonsense! ***A NOTE TO KEEP IN MIND REGARDING THIS:*** _Psychology & behavioral analysis plays a huge role in what i have done for channels in the past as my previous government employment provided me great opportunities in being educated/trained & then APPLYING these lessons to real world events for many years.... It’s a VERY SAD fact of society’s current behavior (but a fact nonetheless!), that overall attention spans (especially in the US!!) have been greatly diminished & the addiction to CONVENIENCE & INSTANT/CONSTANT GRATIFICATION (and doing the VERY LEAST to obtain them!) has become a widespread commonality amongst the viewership - EVERYONE’s viewership - If you’re not putting YOURSELF in the “shoes of” this majority when presenting your content, you’re lessening the chances of achieving “engagement greatness” (as I’ve called it 😂) WHICH DIRECTLY CORRELATES TO LESSENING YOUR CHANCES of OBTAINING MAXIMUM RETURNS on your TREMENDOUS INVESTMENT(s) (your time, laboring energy, & finances - which, as time goes on, all decrease your chances of finding an alternative “livelihood” to pursue)!!_ _“Assuming” ANYTHING - is bad! - especially when it’s assuming your audience is “better than” what I’ve described about “today’s society” above. Instead - Always EXPECT the WORST so you can set yourself up for THE BEST when it comes to this!!_ 3. Again, create the checklist that you’ll have IN YOUR FACE during your “final cut” & publishing processes. I’ve already clogged up plenty of your time (especially considering the fact that you may not even see this, or regard it as helpful) so providing the examples of what should always be on every creators list isn’t practical. Of course, as your fan/supporter, I’m spending all of this time because I WANT TO SEE YOU SUCCEED and SURPASS the average “burnout” rates that have defeated many channels... As such, I’m of course willing to consult with you (strictly as a fan, this is NOT a “sales pitch” by any means!) privately via email or whatever you’d like so that the “basics” you may have long forgotten or are simply unaware of can become a primary function of your production. There are numerous suggestions I’ve omitted from this (for the reasons mentioned) but most of them are not common knowledge to any creators who haven’t gained this type of knowledge in psychology & behaviors OR who haven’t gone down the rabbit hole of CSworld’s inner workings & what makes its algorithms HAPPY... These are The things I’ve brought to the table for channels in the past who have ALL benefitted tremendously. I can be reached AT protonmail -d0t- -c0m- if you simply add my YT handle to the front of it! (A low-grade riddle to avoid spambots & trollnuts) Feel Free to reach out if you’d like elaboration on what I’ve said here OR if you’d like to know all of the small changes you could make to manufacture large results. Either way - Take Care - Good Luck - And I’ll - *_SEEEEE YOOOOU NEXXXXXTIME!!!!!_*

  • Dear Greatscott, I have in the past made a simple solar system consisting of 4 cheep car battery's in parallel and 4 x150w home made solar panels plus a solar accumulator charger problem was there was an inoficient draw from the charger unit. So I solved this with a very rudementary car solenoid rewound to match a small dedicated solar panel to switch the power to the charger off during darkness and on during sunlight, this did the job for about 6 years until the negotiable happened the points in the solenoid had to be cleaned and still going to this day. My question is is there some other method of switching which is more officient and more importantly cheep and maintenance free you can recommend to me ?

  • I love to watch your construction and for me, your on very high level. , anyway one two thing I always wonder about: 1. Your a heavy user of solder! when it comes to using prototype pcb diy board, why do you not use wire between parts ? 2. when you use connectors with screw - why not put a drop of superglue on the board so the connector do not move when you screw wire to it ? I do not try to teach you - just wonder... - Regards Erik, 64 year from Denmark

  • I would love to learn how to make usb charging for single cell lipos but instead of cutting off at full voltage of the battery, but have it stop at its storage voltage. I try drones and I have some micro size drones that take 1s lipos of 300-600mah. These micros often come with a circuit board that plugs into any usb power device and they auto charge and cut off when fully charged. I've had to make adapters to plug multiple 1s lipos in series to storage charge and it's a hassle to set that and the charger up, and set up the chargers settings to storage and how many cells is the charger gonna storage charge. I think it would be simple to just plug a low volt 1s to a circuit board, Plug into usb source, and it auto cuts off at storage volt of 3.7, 3.8v

Something I would like to see is an modified bicycle stand, that kind where bicycler is makeing indoor traing in the winter period. Such thing would be possible to modify with an motor for varialble electric output. Imagine that you vary the load for simulating uphilll, wind and lighter load but where you still are able to get some useful power for some charging of mobile, laptop or maybe an battery for the peak output.

"Testing was done to install PartKeepr 1.4.0 on Raspbian Buster. However, whilst installation was possible, there were a number of problems and malfunctions. This is believed to be a compatibility issue with with the newer PHP APCu version that comes with Buster and the Symfony2 implementation." So running Buster, busted me!
